Client Testimonials

Margarett and Anne,

I don’t even know where to begin in thanking you for everything you are to us.  It is amazing how close people can get in less than 9 months!  In telling my birth story please excuse any time lapses as I cannot remember times very well.  As you know this pregnancy was not at all as easy as my first, 10 years earlier.  I know each pregnancy is different and being that I waited ten years and was ‘out of practice’ didn’t help either…LOL In the grand scheme of things it was not at all as difficult as it could have been so for that I am very grateful!  As we approached and passed our estimated due date I became more and more excited to see this little life we had been thrilled to learn about from the beginning.   Chet and I created a birth plan with all the ‘just in case’ info in place…a great exercise for any couple!  My 10-year old son, Seth added his requests and preferences to our birth plan as well and in retrospect I am so glad we involved him in that process!  Labor itself was a bit slow going at first…had regular contractions for most of a day and as they neared 5 min apart and weren’t getting any  harder and I was getting more and more tired of walking.  We decided to stop trying to battle Mother Nature and relinquish control to Her.  I was able to get a pretty good night sleep and contractions started again the next morning.  By about 10 am I was calling you all to make sure I knew when to call so as not to have you come over unnecessarily like the evening before.  I believe that about an hour or two  after I spoke with Margarett, Chet was calling Anne to let her know my contractions were 5 min apart and getting more intense.  Anne arrived very quickly and at that time Chet ran to the school to get Seth.  While Chet was gone, Ann got everything set up.  Since the school is so close, he was gone less than 5 min.  Chet and Seth returned and my sweet son sat on the couch next to me holding my hand, my wonderful husband in front of me with words of encouragement.  Soon after that, Margarett arrived and we filled her in on the happenings.  I think within 5 or 10 min of Margarett arriving I was ready to push so we went to the bedroom where I wanted to deliver and with Margarett’s support I sat on the birthing stool.  Chet sat on the bed behind me for support.  I am not sure how many pushes or minutes of pushing passed but Aden was ready to meet us so he was born very quickly.  Margarett caught him and immediately put him on my chest and I held him as they did whatever needed to be done.  We transitioned to laying on the bed and Chet and Seth snuggled in bed with us.  We got to lay there with Aden for quite a while, marveling in the new addition to our family.  Anne came in after a while to weigh and measure him and we got him dressed after that.  Anne and Margarett cleaned up and did paperwork and left us to enjoy our precious little one.  Looking back, I do not know that I could have had better midwives and am very confident I would not have enjoyed a hospital birth.  The best thing in the world to me is being able to enjoy the process, knowing that though it is a painful process the end result is so amazing, and being able to stay in the moment without all the standard hospital commotion.  I am thankful beyond words that Margarett and Anne are here in Oklahoma City and are so wonderful in what they do, truly caring and thorough in every aspect.  Thanks you both for sharing such a wonderful time in our lives.  If we decide to have another, you will for sure be our first call!

In Gratitude,

Christy Putnam
