Dear Margarett,
I had to have cryosurgery last June, due to an abnormal PAP result. I then became pregnant in August (my first) and had scheduled my first prenatal appointment with you. Four weeks prior to that appointment, I went to my GYN for a follow-up PAP and had an ultrasound. The ultrasound confirmed that I was pregnant and showed the baby’s heart beating. Two weeks later I began spotting and cramping and went back to my GYN for an ultrasound that found the baby’s heart was no longer beating. I was told I would need a D&C. I did not want to have surgery, so I told the doctor I would prefer to just go home and wait to see if my body would miscarry on its own. I was also told that my PAP was abnormal: level 2.
As you can probably imagine, my husband I were quite upset. That night, my husband called you to cancel my appointment with you, but also to ask your advice on how to help my body miscarry on its own, so I could avoid having the surgery. It came up in that conversation that I also had the abnormal PAP. You recommended using goldenseal to kill the virus.
I was impressed that you would have a twenty minute conversation with someone who you had never met and was not a patient of yours. We couldn’t believe that you would just talk with him and give him advice for no other reason than just to help. I would like to let you know that I did miscarry on my own, at home and did not have to have the surgery. I would also like to share with you that I took your advice and used the goldenseal. I had a follow-up PAP in October and just got my results this week – NORMAL!!!! I can not thank you enough for your help and advice during a difficult time in my life. Though I’ve never met you, I know that you are a generous and selfless person with a big heart. Thank you again for all you do.
